Getting Started
Onboarding Process
Before diving into the full documentation, it’s helpful to understand the end-to-end process of integrating with Weedmaps. This guide provides a high-level overview of what to expect—from obtaining credentials to going live with a verified integration.
1. Obtaining API Credentials
You’ll need a unique set of credentials before you can interact with the Weedmaps APIs.
To begin, apply to become an Integrator by emailing [email protected] with the following information:
- Your name and contact details
- The type of integration you wish to build
- Your role within the company
- Mutual customers
While waiting for a response, we recommend:
- Creating a user account on Weedmaps.com.
- Reviewing this documentation to familiarize yourself with API functionality.
Once approved, you’ll receive:
- Your API credentials
- Access to a test Listing linked to your user account
Authorization Guides
We have more in-depth guides for our Authorization flow.
2. Understanding the API
Weedmaps provides comprehensive API documentation to guide you through every integration step.
Best Practice:
Please review all documentation thoroughly before reaching out for support.
After receiving credentials and reviewing the documentation, if you still have questions, contact us via [email protected] or through your designated support channel.
3. Connecting a POS to Weedmaps
To access a Listing’s Menu via the API, the Listing Owner must grant your integration access.
They can do this by logging into their Weedmaps account and selecting your platform as their POS provider.
4. Going Live
Once the Weedmaps team is confident in your integration, you will enter a beta launch phase.
During beta:
- Weedmaps will manually connect your integration to at least one live Listing.
- This step ensures a smooth transition from the test environment to production data.
There is no mandatory timeframe or minimum number of Listings in beta. Weedmaps reserves the right to delay go-live if issues are detected during testing.
When live:
- Your platform will appear in the Weedmaps UI as an available POS integration.
- Listings will be able to directly select your integration for their accounts.
One User, Multiple Listings
If an Organization on Weedmaps manages multiple Listings, they will need to manually select your POS integration for each Listing.
